The Toona
Toona! Toona! cold as night,
On the floor at first daybright,
What sashimi you will be,
Perfect in thy symmetry.
In what distant deep sea lies
The life that lit thy still cold eyes?
Oh what storms, what bitter strife?
Were required to steal that life?
And what creature, and what beast?
Could take thy sinews for his feast?
That when thy heart had ceased to beat,
Then mortal men would sell thy meat.
What the hook? And what the line?
Brought thee from thy home to mine?
What the quarry? What the catch?
Who from deepest depths did snatch?
And littered Neptune with their nets,
Did they smile their work to see?
Did they utter "sashimi!"
Did they utter "sashimi!"
Toona! Toona! cold as night,
On the floor at first daybright,
What sashimi you will be,
Perfect in thy symmetry.
