Shiga Kogen / Jigokudani

As usual, apologies for the lateness of this post. I'll try to be better. No really. This time, I really mean it. I promise.

Yeah. Anyway, right after New Years', D, K, N and I headed to Shiga Kogen in Nagano. Home to parts of the 1998 Winter Olympics, Shiga Kogen has 21 ski resorts surrounding the valley. You could (if you had the time, and the inclination to traverse a lot) ride from one to the other, although there are a couple that don't allow snowboarders. But the hill we were at had decent terrain, was right out the door of our hotel (which had its own onsen) and the snow was pretty good. Nice powder in the trees, and even the groomers were pretty decent. Had a good time, and D and K really took their riding to the next level.

D also took his driving to the next level, as he drove in his first real blizzard for about half an hour on the way out. We also stopped to check out the hot spring monkeys at Jigokudani. Pics on flickr.
