So we went out to an izakaya for dinner monday night. Tried some very interesting dishes. Along with some relatively familiar foods, we tried the following. Can you (people not in Japan) guess what they are?

Uuum... tentacle tempura?
1. pretty bowl, i say a new jello salad.

ah the faithful few readers! (commenters anyway)
1. tako (octopus) wasabi
2. deep fried ika (squid) tentacles
3. kujira (whale) sashimi
and for the record, they were ok, but i wouldn't order them again. (also for the record, i didn't order any of them - i agreed to try the tako - the other two were surprises.)
i'm not sure i could eat any of those...even before i knew what they were...they look...slimy :)
These foods are Japanese traditional culture.
we eat in house without the whale.
However, the whale is not so common lately. I sometimes ate in a childhood.
