Mito, Day Two

Went back to Mito on the 14th, to the Menkyo Shikenjo. The driving test in Japan is supposedly quite difficult. They're very picky about the way you drive through the course. (For helpful information on the driving test in Ibaraki, check out the Tsukuba Alien Times) Fortunately, Canada and Japan have a reciprocal agreement, so Canadians don't have to take the driving test. That left only the written test (True/False) and the eye test. Turns out I only had to take the eye test. Four questions. Fortunately, I was able to learn the words for left and right (Hidari and Migi) and for up and down (ue and shita) before the test. I was also asked a bunch of questions about how long I'd had a licence, what kind of licence I had, what kind of tests I'd taken to get those licences, and if I'd ever failed any of the tests. All told, it took two hours. And now I can drive for the next three years.
