January/February

When I got back in January, I got in a couple days of snowboarding, and then was busy almost every day with some kind of work or hockey or something.

In February we went boarding on a couple of Sundays. I’d also planned to get away for a few days, but things just didn’t work out, though I did get to catch up on sleep a little bit! I did go snowboarding for a couple of days on my birthday and we had a great time.

On the Sunday before my birthday, it was actually like spring skiing at Alts Bandai – slushy and sunny, but not too crowded. We stayed over at a nice little B & B in Inawashiro owned by a charming couple, and met two cool girls to chat with. In the morning, it was raining, but we waited ‘til about 9 am, at which point it turned into wet snow. We all decided to head around to the back of Mt. Bandai to Nekoma, as it’s usually colder there. The snow was still wet, but not bad, and we found a lot more tree runs than I’d found last time. All in all we spent most of the day in and out of the trees. We even had to hike out over a small ridge because of a creek at the bottom. It brought back memories of various trips to Whistler, getting stuck and having to slog out through thigh deep powder.

Anyway, the rest of the school year isn’t likely to be too exciting, though I’ll try to write something about graduation – I don’t think I did last year.

And at the end of March, I’m off to Thailand for 9 or 10 days, so I’ll try to get that stuff posted before summer comes around again!
