North Japanese Alps - July 27

So I got to Toyama on the overnight bus from Shinjuku, and took the train/cable car/bus along the Kurobe Alpine Route up to Murodo. It was pouring, as is usual when I want to go hiking... I delayed for a bit, but nothing changed, so I headed out a little after 11. Near Jodo-san, I was ready to call it quits, as horizontal rain doesn't really go well with enjoying a hike. But I kept on up to the top of Jodo-san. The rain slowed and then stopped, and I had a nice evening at the Goshikigahara campground. About 10 km.

Brilliant idea for a pack cover! No more rain running down the back of your jacket and soaking through the backside of your pack.

This is one of the lucky slugs. There were a lot more who had been stepped on. (This one's about 10 cm (4") long.

Some kind of baby grouse.

Bedroom.

Creekside kitchen/dining room.
