On the Road Again

My knee was really sore this morning, so I took it easy. I was parked next to a manmade lake under a dam, and in the morning, the dam loudspeaker kept making announcements, so I drove a bit further down the road, and slept a bit more. I drove in to Sounkyo in the morning and stopped at the Obako (big box) which is really unimpressive.
And then to the waterfalls at Sounkyo gorge - which were nice, but a bit overrun with tour buses full of people.
Leisurely made my way around to Asahidake onsen.

A lot of the farmland looked more like Canada (except for the mountains in the background) instead of the usual rice fields where I live.
Got in about 2, and headed to the ropeway. Even though LP said it was open 'til 7, last run was at 5. So I couldn't hike it that afternoon. Set up camp, walked around and went to the onsen at the Shirakabaso hotel/hostel. Said hi to a foreigner - but it turned out he was French, so that limited the conversation a bit. While I was cooking, I chatted for a bit with a Canadian guy and his Japanese wife who were travelling around.
